One of the teams that really distinguishes us from other CRO agencies is our development team. Meet Jasper, a goalkeeper who loves a clean sheet but also a clean code. “It will not help if you start with your first test and your experiment breaks down the whole website. I can assure you; you will not see that happening on our side”
Decent A/B testing is a matter of clean coding. Every developer is afraid you will hurt the source code of a website. When they see they have specialists on the other side, they know they can trust our work.
We know our clients’ websites well, which allows us to think along with them about the best way to validate a hypothesis. We regularly suggest a different route where a test can be set up faster and therefore cheaper. We always write the code for A/B testing ourselves and never use the visual editors of the tools.
Did you know that these editors can really hurt code when you use them? Please use the WYSIWYG-editor if you want a heated discussion with your dev-team, ha-ha.
No, we prefer real coding. As a result, our tests are robust and above all reliable. Having a team that specializes in development, can ensure that the changes needed for an experiment are of high quality and are thoroughly tested before they go live.
The team consists of a mix of seniors, and juniors. Jos is the director of operations, Sander is the managing consultant and I am the lead consultant, both of whom deal with product innovation.
Our senior developer, Kevin, is not only the technical lead for many CRO programs but also builds our own websites. Sabine and Bronwyn are continuously building CRO experiments and Jimmy checks them carefully in his QA (Quality Assurance) role. In addition, Nienke, Kenneth, and Jurre support us part-time with developing A/B-tests. Our focus is web-based client-side testing, using vanilla JavaScript, CSS, and HTML. And even though we each have diverse backgrounds; we are all involved with the full A/B-testing circle. From brainstorming to feasibility testing. From streamlining processes to automation. We have a well-integrated team with high velocity.
Did you know that we set up as many as 30 experiments a month? These are client-side tests in the browser for 99% of the experiments. We always look for the least complex way to run a test. Efficiency, quality, and speed are paramount.
This way of working ensures that we can put a complete test online in just two weeks. Each consultant is responsible for the progress of one or more clients, but tasks are divided between them. This way, each consultant is doing what he or she is good at and what makes them happy.
Good question! In my opinion, a dedicated development team is essential for any CRO department looking to improve a website’s performance. We can work together to set up A/B tests in the best feasible way, provide ongoing support, and ensure high-quality experiments.
Also important, the more test you run, mostly the more complex tests will become. Without good development, you are limited in the way you can run tests. If you are limited, there is a chance your revenue will be limited as well, and you do not want that to happen.
Another important aspect is that you must gain trust within the organisation. Most people get afraid of working with code. It will not help if you start with your first test and your experiment breaks down the whole website. I can assure you; you will not see that thing happening on our side 🙂
